About this design

This tranquil living space showcases a restrained and warm minimalist aesthetic. The dominant palette consists of soft neutrals — creamy beige walls, light oak wood tones on the cabinetry, ceiling detail, and flooring — contrasted by the rich forest green of a low-profile velvet sofa. A sculptural black metal chair with distinctive circular perforations sits on a plush, high-pile beige rug, adding graphic interest and texture. Natural light floods the room through a full-height sliding window that frames views of an urban concrete building and balcony greenery, creating a strong connection to the outdoors. The spatial layout is open and airy, with built-in oak storage on the left and a uniquely shaped wooden coffee table in the foreground. The overall mood is calm, contemplative, and sophisticated, making it ideal for a small apartment, urban loft, or anyone seeking a peaceful reading nook that balances modern simplicity with organic warmth.

How to get this look

  • Pair a sculptural dark metal chair with circular cutouts against a low-profile velvet sofa in deep green for visual contrast.
  • Use consistent light oak veneer on walls, built-ins, and flooring to create a seamless, warm neutral envelope.
  • Anchor the seating area with a high-pile neutral rug to add softness and define the space.
  • Maximize natural light with a large, unobstructed window and keep window treatments minimal.
  • Incorporate organic shapes like an irregular wooden coffee table to soften the minimalist geometry.
