About this design

This living room embodies contemporary minimalism through an honest material palette dominated by cool concrete and warm oak. The dominant architectural feature is a massive, textured concrete fireplace wall that rises dramatically to the ceiling, creating a strong focal point while maintaining a sense of calm. The space is grounded by a large oak lattice coffee table with precise joinery, paired with a sculptural solid oak bench that showcases the beauty of natural wood grain. A delicate washi paper floor lamp provides soft, diffused lighting that contrasts beautifully with the raw concrete surfaces. Natural light floods in from high clerestory windows, highlighting the subtle texture variations in the brick and concrete. The overall mood is tranquil, grounded, and sophisticated. This aesthetic suits homeowners who appreciate brutalist-inspired architecture, Japanese wabi-sabi principles, and a restrained, tactile interior that values material honesty over ornamentation.
