Sunken Courtyard with Travertine Steps and Timber Pergola

This contemporary courtyard garden showcases a harmonious blend of natural materials and clean architectural lines. The dominant palette consists of warm beige travertine, rich reddish-brown timber, and deep green foliage with golden autumn accents. The spatial layout centers around a sunken conversation area defined by wide, shallow travertine steps that double as seating. A circular fire pit anchors the space, while a striking vertical wood-slat wall provides privacy and visual warmth. Above, a sophisticated timber pergola with horizontal louvers offers both shade and a sense of enclosure. Integrated lighting within the stone walls and under the steps creates a soft, inviting evening ambiance. The overall mood is calm, luxurious, and contemplative. This design suits homeowners seeking a sophisticated outdoor living room for entertaining or quiet reflection, particularly those who appreciate modern Asian or minimalist aesthetics.
