About this design

This living room embodies contemporary brutalist minimalism through its dominant raw concrete ceiling and structural beams that create a strong architectural presence. The color palette is deliberately restrained—cool concrete grey, matte black, and deep charcoal—offset by the subtle warmth of indirect cove lighting that washes the upper walls in a soft peach glow. A generous black leather sofa anchors the space, complemented by a sculptural white-and-brass floor lamp and a low metallic coffee table displaying art books. The spatial layout cleverly uses a dark wood-paneled volume on the left to conceal circulation while maintaining an open sightline to a secondary seating area with a red leather chair visible in the distance. The mood is sophisticated, calm, and slightly monastic, making it ideal for design enthusiasts, architects, or urban dwellers who appreciate strong material honesty and restrained luxury. The careful balance of hard surfaces with the soft texture of the area rug prevents the space from feeling cold.
