About this design

This serene living and library space showcases a soft neutral palette of creamy beige, warm travertine, and pale oak. The dominant materials include honed travertine used for the cylindrical side table and small round pedestal table, a striking white-and-grey marble dining table with thick sculptural legs, and a custom cowhide rug in earthy brown and cream tones. A dramatic, oversized sculptural pendant lamp in matte white hangs above the table, providing soft ambient light that complements the recessed ceiling lighting. Built-in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with a light wood finish create a warm, intellectual backdrop while maintaining an airy feel. The spatial layout cleverly combines dining, reading, and lounging zones in one open-plan area. The low-slung, upholstered swivel chair and plush sofa invite relaxation. This sophisticated yet comfortable environment perfectly suits design-conscious homeowners, book lovers, and those seeking a calm, contemporary living space that balances functionality with refined aesthetics.

How to get this look

  • Pair a sculptural marble or travertine dining table with a bold, irregularly shaped cowhide rug to anchor the seating area.
  • Install floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves in a pale oak or travertine finish to create a warm, library-like backdrop without darkening the room.
  • Choose one oversized, artistic pendant light as a focal point above the table instead of multiple smaller fixtures.
  • Layer different natural textures — matte stone, bouclé upholstery, and organic greenery — within a strictly neutral color palette.
  • Incorporate a small round travertine side table with a metallic base to add modern elegance to the reading corner.
