About this design

This rooftop terrace showcases a refined minimalist aesthetic defined by a dominant palette of warm neutrals — sandy beige concrete, textured grey stone, and terracotta accents. The spatial layout centers around a sleek, narrow lap pool with turquoise water that reflects the dramatic geometric lines of the overhead concrete pavilion. The pavilion itself features a striking slatted wooden roof that filters sunlight into rhythmic shadow patterns across the deck. Rough-hewn stone walls provide both privacy and a strong tactile contrast to the smooth concrete surfaces. Two minimalist wooden lounge chairs with rust-colored fabric sit beside the pool, inviting relaxation. The overall mood is calm, architectural, and sun-drenched, perfectly suited for modern homes in subtropical climates, particularly those seeking a seamless blend of indoor-outdoor living and contemporary Taiwanese architecture.

How to get this look

  • Use large-format concrete pavers and raw concrete structural elements to create a monolithic, minimalist base
  • Incorporate local stone walls to add texture and ground the design in its natural surroundings
  • Install a narrow lap pool rather than a large recreational pool to maintain clean architectural lines
  • Add a geometric pavilion with wooden slat roofing to provide shade while creating dramatic light and shadow play
  • Choose low-profile wooden lounge chairs with earth-toned fabric to complement the neutral material palette
