About this design

This Mediterranean-inspired outdoor space showcases a series of floating terracotta steps that create a sculptural pathway through a gravel garden. The dominant palette consists of warm earthy terracotta, muted sage greens, and natural stone tones. Materials include textured terracotta plaster on the building facade, rough dry-stack stone retaining walls, fine gravel ground cover, and mature olive tree with gnarled branches. Natural daylight filters through the tree canopy, casting soft dappled shadows across the steps and creating a calm, contemplative mood. The spatial layout cleverly integrates the architecture with the landscape, using the steps to bridge different levels while the low stone wall and drought-tolerant planting define the boundaries. This design perfectly suits homeowners seeking a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant garden with strong architectural character, ideal for warm climates or those wanting to evoke a Tuscan or Spanish countryside feeling.
