About this design

This sun-drenched courtyard showcases a refined minimalist aesthetic defined by a soft neutral palette of creamy beige terrazzo floors and walls paired with crisp white tiles. The dominant material is smooth terrazzo, complemented by classic terracotta pots that add warm earthy tones and organic texture. A series of wide, cascading stone steps creates dynamic spatial layering, doubling as generous seating and leading the eye upward to a second-level balcony with a curved white railing. A young central tree provides dappled shade over a sleek dark water feature that reflects the sky and surrounding architecture. Abundant potted plants with vibrant red blooms and lush greenery inject life and color against the clean architectural lines. The overall mood is calm, airy, and contemplative, perfectly suited for a contemporary Mediterranean villa, boutique hotel, or modern residential outdoor living space where seamless indoor-outdoor connection is desired.

How to get this look

  • Use large-format light beige terrazzo or travertine tiles for floors and low walls to create a seamless, monolithic look
  • Incorporate multiple terracotta pots of varying heights planted with red bougainvillea and Mediterranean greenery
  • Design wide, shallow cascading steps that serve dual purposes as both circulation and casual seating
  • Introduce a single specimen tree in the center with a dark rectangular water feature at its base for reflection and calm
  • Choose minimalist white powder-coated metal outdoor furniture with clean lines to maintain visual lightness
